                                Queens Borough Community College Field Trip 

        This trip was a great experience for me because I got to learn a lot of new things that I never knew of and got a good little preview of how college life is and how college classes are. I met Professor Lawrence and Professor Aster who showed us about 3D printing and all the machines that were related with 3D printing. They also showed us about all the things that they created using 3D print. I also knew that China has already started 3D printing and is starting to make 3D printed buildings. I also met Jeremiah who was a  former student in QCC. He took us to all the corners of QCC and showed us the whole campus. 

        
         I also got to know about the Holocaust and some facts from a real source. Besides, I also got to know some things about the College as well, and about the technologies that were used. My favorite part of the trip was when the professor showed us all about the 3D printing because it was something new for me and it was amazing how technologies are starting to make everything that a living being needs.

        In this project we had to create a webpage for our favorite teacher. So my favorite teacher was Ms. Kinzer because she has done a great impact on my life and also because I enjoy her class. I had to create four pages which included the homepage, the bio page, the fun-facts page and a page about how my favorite teacher has a impact in my life. I started by designing a background which was related to math because it matches what Ms. Kinzer teaches. 
        I mainly used Dreamweaver and Photoshop for this project to create buttons and web-pages. I only had one problem with this project, which was finding the perfect background and writing how Ms. Kinzer had had an impact in my life. This skills can be used in the future to create a webpage for your own loved ones and in jobs as well. 

Project 2 Reflection

Project 2

                This Project was one of the hardest and funnest project I had ever done. It was all about how I express my feeling towards my favorite cartoon character and mainly about my own creativity. In this lab, I learned so many new things that I never knew about and I was very glad to meet new obstacles in this lab. In fact, I was interested in figuring out how to solve problems and to overcome obstacles in this project. I am the type of person who's lazy and is not that interested in troubleshooting problems repeatedly. But, this project was very interesting, as a matter of fact I spent extra hours after school to do this project. Every time I tried to solve a problem I learned something new from it.

                In this lab, we were told to pick our own favorite cartoon character and then to write a biography about them. Next, we had to sketch our cartoon character and scan it. Then, we uploaded it into Fireworks and began filling colors and effects to our character. We had to make 3 pages for this lab. Firstly, I started by making the homepage and putting backgrounds, buttons and a banner for my homepage. After that, I copied my homepage twice and named them as a Process page and a Biography page. In the process page, I uploaded my lab 10 and 11 images to show the steps I did to make this final draft of my character. On the Biography page, I wrote all about my character which was Inuyasha.

                This project is very relevant to web design because there's a lot of thing from this project that is going to help me in the future and upcoming labs and projects for Web design. These skills are very useful in the future for those who love animations and not only that, but it can also be used to make your own story in your workplace.

Lab 11 Reflection

Lab 11

            This lab was about improvising my favorite cartoon character from Lab 10 and to put some effects, backgrounds and more details on the character itself. I learned a lot of new things in this lab too. I learned how to put effects in layers in Fireworks CS6 and also learned how to troubleshoot some basic problems. This lab was basically all about putting all my effects and colors in the cartoon character which is my Final draft of the character. I didn't have a lot of problems like I did in the previous lab because I was getting used to it and knew some of the rudiments of Fireworks CS6, whereas in Lab 10 I was new to it and had trouble completing my work.

Lab 10

          This lab was basically all about putting my favorite cartoon character's sketch and the colored cartoon character in a web page. In this lab, i learned how to scan an image and most importantly I learned how to use some of the tools in Fireworks CS6. My biggest obstacle in this lab was to fill the color in some specific areas of my cartoon character, because it was really hard and it took a lot of time for me to just fill in the color. The magic wand tool was of great help, it saved my time and filled color in the selected area really fast. At first, it was really difficult for me because I have never used this software before and was slowly getting used to it. But, I am glad that I used this software because now I have a little idea about this software and how helpful it is when it comes to coloring. Besides, I also learned many new things that I didn't know at all and I am looking forward to learning more new things.

Lab 9 Reflection

Lab 9

            In this lab, we had to take a picture of our self and then convert it into a rollover. This lab was fun and easy to do once I figured out how to do. I started by taking a picture in the photo booth and then placing that picture file in my lab 9 folder. Then, after taking a picture, I searched up a good gif for my 2nd picture. Next, I opened Dreamweaver and started my heading and all that rudimentary things like name and font color. Afterwards, I inserted first image followed by my second image. As a result, whenever I move my mouse back and forth the image swaps.

            This lab is relevant to web design because I need to create many things related to this lab for my website in future. For instance, the buttons that lead to my blog or homepage and many other things. I can use the skills from this lab in the future when I need to put a rollover image to my blog or my website or in my workplace. These skills are going to be very helpful to me. 

  

Lab 7 Index portfolio reflection

            This lab was basically about summing up all my labs into one specific location in the web. Firstly, i took screenshots of every labs that i had done till now and then saved it in my lab 7 folder. Secondly, i organized every work of mine in the folder and named it properly so that it looked organized and was easier for me to find the file i needed or wanted. Thirdly, i made a webpage for this lab and then created my own banner and home buttons for it. Lastly, i put all my labs in the webpage by using Dreamweaver and uploading it online. I used the basic codes to put all those labs in the web page and then hyper-linked each and every single lab to its own page. For this lab, i used filezilla to upload my webpage, photoshop to create my own home buttons and other necessary buttons and dreamweaver where i did all my coding and adding the screenshots of my labs as well as my lab itself. This skill is useful for me in the future and can almost be used in any situation. For instance in my own business or in my workplace. Besides, these skills will allow me to get a higher chance of getting a job.

Career Day Reflection

           It was a great pleasure to be in the CTE Career Day, I got to learn many new things that were beneficial for my future. We were introduced to many colleges and companies that we're recruiting young bright students from public schools. We walked around asking questions and informations about the colleges/companies that were present. Besides, I also got to resolve my questions about some specific things for colleges and got to know about the colleges that participated in it. Furthermore, I also got an idea of what it felt like to be in college from a recent graduate from our school. She gave me a little idea about how it was in college. Moreover, attending the CTE career day was a good experience after all and it left me with motivation and excitement to face challenges and roadblocks from going to college and becoming what I want to be. This experience has helped me in keeping my goals and thoroughly following the steps to achieve my goal.

         In this lab, we had to make a list of some daily needs. Then we had to put it in order and make a specific group for each item/thing. It was mostly about organizing our list and putting it in an ordered list. This lab helped me in troubleshooting many problems and made me think a lot and finding ways to fix the problem. Besides, it took a lot of time to actually think of the stuffs that are my favorites and the things I want to include in my list. The only thing which i think was difficult is labeling the group and the items in the list in order. This lab is relevant to Web Design because someday there might be a situation where we have to make a list in order about our works or labs and then submit it online. Furthermore, i can use this skills in future to make a list of names of employees and other purposes in a job.

             In the first marking period, i slacked a little bit and didn't do my best. I know i can do even better than this. I came late to class several times and will try not to be late in this marking period. I did what my goal was but it could have been even better if i put in a bit more effort in my works. My goal was to get 90+ in every subject or if possible 95+ but i didn't achieve it completely which is little disappointing. 

                     I need to improve a lot in this marking period. I need to stay focused and be following instructions given by the teachers. I also need to be in class on time and prepared to get started without any complains. Most importantly i have to do every single work that i am supposed to do and be serious. Besides, I need to be motivated in everything i do in school and outside of school. These are the only ways that i can achieve my goals and dreams.

• Explain why paying attention to detail and following procedure are important elements of Web Design?

• Paying attention to details and following procedure are important elements of Web Design because by these are the elements which allows you to not make any silly mistakes and to be done with your work exactly the way you were assigned to. For example, when you are taking the PSAT test or some other major test, you are not supposed to proceed to the next section until you are told by the instructor and if you do, you will face the consequences without any warning. Similarly to the above situation, in Web Design, you should do what you're told to and not go beyond that because there can be several basic steps which you skip.

• Q. Explain, how do you take notes?

• There are several ways of taking notes. It really depends on the individual itself. Personally, i take notes by asking questions to myself of whether a sentence is important or not and asking myself why is it important. Also, i take down key words and concepts that is provided, not full sentences or listen for word clues from the teacher. Finally, after all the steps i review my notes over again to check if there's any mistake or not and if its complete or not.

                Similar to the previous lab, Lab 5, this lab is also about creating my own banner for my portfolio and uploading it online. I had to create a banner for my portfolio which consisted of my name and portfolio. Firstly, i started by creating my banner in Photoshop using different kinds of effects on the name and creating a good background which matched my nameplate. After that, i created an html document and inserted my heading and other necessary codes for the webpage. Then, i placed the banner in the html document after saving the file and uploaded it online using Filezilla.

                 This is relevant to Web Design because you must be able to create your own banner or logo for your works or identity. This skills can be very beneficial in the future in many ways, such as making your own business cards or creating logos for your own websites etc. Besides, it also saves you a lot of money and time, and not be relying on someone else to do it for you. This allows to get a better chance of getting employed and getting payed more.

             In this lab, i had to create nameplate of my name in photoshop using my knowledge of Visual Design and i had to upload it online in a webpage. Firstly, i started by creating a nameplate in photoshop using different kinds of effects on the name and creating a good background which matched my nameplate. After that, i created a html document and put in my heading and other necessary codes for a webpage. Then, i placed the nameplate in the html document and uploaded it online using Filezilla.

             This is relevant to Web Design as you progress, you need to create your own banner or nameplate to represent yourself or your own tag. This skills can be really helpful in the future whether for your college or your job or anywhere, you can put your own nameplate to show your work or creativity. Instead of just writing down a regular name without any background nor effects.

             In this lab, I created a webpage which contained a table of colors. It consisted of three rows which were the Color name, the hexadecimal number for the color and the color itself. The objective of the lab was to create a webpage which involved a table with many colors as possible and the name and the hexadecimal number/tag of the color. I created a table by using the "<table>" code and the "<tr>" known as table row and more. As usual, there's always something new to learn. I learned how to use new codes and create tables.

             I used the html file and filezilla to do this lab. This is relevant to Web Design because it helps you to know how a single hexadecimal number can change a color. This can be helpful in many ways. Such as, creating a background or making different font colors or marking a important statement by putting in different color. This skill can be helpful in future as you know what type of colors look good in certain themes or logos. The combination of colors you use can also explain how well a person is organized. This can help a lot in your job as well as other presentations.

            In this lab i created a webpage which consisted of other websites and also creating website links that linked to that website. This lab was all about creating a webpage which contained links of other websites or what web-designers call it "Hyperlinks". I learned new codes which allowed you to go to other websites by clicking on the link. I learned how to put hyperlinks in a text and an image. Likewise, i used the html file and filezilla software for the same purposes of creating a html document and uploading it online.

            This is relevant to Web Design because it allows you to provide the links for your blog or webpage, which can help identify the work of someone and give credit to the one who did the work. I can see this skills come very handy in the future because it can help me cite my works by linking to the copyright page for my works or citing my own website to get info about me. Besides, with these skills it also allows me to have a better chance of getting a job.

             This lab was all about creating a webpage which included a biography about myself and a picture of myself.Also, about my goals for this school year. Even though this lab is quite similar to lab 1, there's some new stuffs that i learned in this one in comparison to the previous lab. Unlike lab 1, this lab required pictures and backgrounds that must be included in the webpage, whereas lab 1 was just a simple webpage. I learned to how to put a picture and background color in the webpage by using different codes and also the font color. Besides, i also learned how to put the heading/title and to move my work to the center. I put my picture by using the codes/function keys to insert a picture and used to "<center>" key to place my work in the center of the page.

             This is relevant to Web Design because learning the rudiments will help me be successful in my work of web designing and will allow me to be able to take any challenges that i face. This skills will help me a lot in my future. It will allow me to be able to do my works online and express my ideologies and thoughts worldwide or also to be able to spread informations fast.

         In this lab i mostly learned about the basics of html and coding. I learned how to make a html document and use some codes to make a webpage. I also learned about the differences between HTTP and HTML and also about the differences between Internet and WWW. The objective of this lab was to a create a webpage by using codes and writing a reflection about the lab on the same webpage.
         
         In order to create a webpage, i used the html file to create a document by using the main codes that always used to create an HTML document (like !DOCTYPE, html etc.) Not only that, but i also used other codes which are meant to create a webpage. I used the html file and Filezilla software. The html file for creating a document and Filezilla for uploading it online in my teacher's webpage. This is relevant to Web Design because without learning this, there is no way one can become a web-designer without this skill. In the future, i can use this skills to create my own websites for businesses or other purposes, or i can also help my colleagues and employees with this skills which can be really helpful.

• What is the difference between a website and a webpage?

           A website is made up of a group of webpages connected together where as a webpage is just one page which can be browsed in a browser page. A website is way more larger and longer than a webpage. For example, A website is like a full notebook and a webpage is like a single loose leaf.

• What is a storyboard and a site map?

            A storyboard is a rough sketch of what your website is going to look like or like a plan for your website. A site map has the same concept but it is different because for a site map you make a structural diagram of where your going to put all your documents and other files. They are both similar because it is used for organizing and improvising.

• Why do you need a storyboard and a site map?

            It is important to have a storyboard and a site map because it helps you organize and improvise your website or a webpage. Besides, it also gives you more ideas on what you should add or remove.

Interview skills

What do you think about choice C?

I think choice C has nothing to do with the interview because that was all about what she was taught in middle school but that doesn't mean that you use that as an option for an interview. That shows that the person is not prepared for jobs. Also, she went off topic she should've answered what is being asked. She was looking around at the end of the interview to see if he asked her to think pair and share whereas the second person looked around to see if the interviewer was mentioning her. Choice C was just a test taking skill which is not at all related to interviews. The first person was not at all prepared when the interviewer asked if she was able to write some stuffs and she was not specific on what she had done in her school whereas the second person briefly described the interviewer what she had done in the past.

Reflection of Brochure

I had to make a brochure for my client. My client was my uncle, he asked me to make an advertisement about a company named The Legal Aid Society. My work was to do the outer part of the brochure and my partner did the inside part. I put the clients preferred logo in the cover and the information that he provided us with. I did this brochure because i wanted the client to be satisfied and wanted to do just like the way he wanted the brochure to be. Creating a brochure for a client made me realize that you have to take your own decision on some stuffs like choosing the fonts and backgrounds. I also learned that you need to communicate with your client often and be confident on what you are doing. I can improve my brochure by fitting the images and texts in the right place and matching it. Also by keeping the same font color and using the spaces that are created. These skills are useful for my future because it can improve my skills and make me realize on how to fix problems or making brochure with no silly mistakes so that in future my clients are satisfied and happy with the brochure. Besides creating brochure for clients, but also creating brochure for internships and other stuffs.

         I am networking when i am posting blogs and posting the links in the community. I am also networking when i have a question and i email the teacher. Besides our whole school is networking when they check jupitergrades because the teacher is showing us about how well we are doing in class. I know i am networking with the right people because i know them personally or its school related or work related.

           It is important to communicate your ideas clearly, verbally and in written form. As people nowadays accept you for a job also on how well you are communicating. Communicating clearly is very important because when you don't talk clearly, people won't understand what you are trying to say. For instance, lets say that you had a presentation to present to your client and you didn't speak clearly, then they might get bored and might not like it. But if you speak clearly they will get interested and will understand whatever your trying to say.

Why is Problem Solving and Critical thinking a value skill as web designer?

       Problem Solving and Critical thinking is a valuable skill as a web designer. It helps you in fixing problem and allows you to find solutions on how to fix it. Also, allows you use good judgement on a specific thing and taking the right decision. It mostly helps in solving problems. For instance, in math you use problem solving and critical thinking to get the correct answer. It can not only be used for math but you can use it for everything.

How can you show professionalism in school?

                Professionalism can be applied in any kind of work. There are different ways to apply it in different works. In school professionalism can be shown by getting in class on time and getting ready to start the lesson. It can also be shown by keeping the things right where it was and doing it even before the teacher tells you to do and taking care of your own responsibilities.

                 I would pick the person who was well dressed and well mannered because he's always going to be on time and it's going to make my company much better whereas the other person who was not at all prepared for the interview and didnt respect the interviewer couldn't have been able to do the job. The 2nd person looked professional which allows him to be viewed as a professional worker. Besides, he was a lot confident than the 1st person and seemed like he was ready for the job and was very eager to do it. During the interview the 2nd person gave attention to the interviewer and was well prepared with his paper works.

      I think i have learned a lot compared to how i was when i first joined in Visual Design. I actually feel smarter because i feel like i learned many things that many people cannot. I am fortunate to have a school like Info tech which provides us with such things. Till now, i've learned many things such as creating your own logo or business card, modifying pictures, making your own blog and making animations of your names and stuff. Most importantly i have learned how to be creative. In comparison to the previous semester i think that i've progressed and learned more new and hard things. In the previous semester we learned about all the basics in web-design, but this marking period it felt like i am in a higher level now.
      For the next marking period i would like to learn about creating more animations and gif because i am interested in making colorful and mesmerizing animations. It looks unique and would look great in my own blog. If i was to grade myself this marking period i would deserve a B because i have missed some lessons and labs which i can improve and i have not been regular with my works which i can improve. I think i can improve by doing all the works and making up the missing labs and lessons and lastly being regular with my work.
